The Morning Dump: 7/27/12

Glad to see you Friday.  I can’t wait to see my girls.

Japan upset Spain in soccer 1-0 yesterday in what they are now calling the “Miracle of Glasgow.  Spain is one of the favorites to medal.

The NBA 2012-2013 schedule is out and Marc Spears has the 10 games to look forward to.  Durant/Thunder vs. James/Heat on Christmas Day is tops on my list.

NASCAR hits the bricks in Indy this weekend and Clint Bowyer is looking to get his 2nd win of the season.  If Bowyer decides not to go for this victory and let some other drivers thrive, look for Harvick to get his first win of the season.

Reports are coming out that Penn State’s Silas Redd met with USC coach Lane Kiffen yesterday and will be transferring to USC.  All these kids are in a tough spot.  I respect the ones who stay and the ones who leave the same.

Zach Grienke will be an Atlanta Brave.

Big-time class move by Carolina’s Steve Smith to give $100,000 to the victims survivors of the Aurora shooting.  I will cheer for him in week 2 vs. the Saints, unless the team I play in fantasy that week has him.

I think this UNC/African-American Studies scandal is going to be bad for Roy Williams.  Check out the details if you haven’t already.  The News and Observer has done a good job.

There is a new star in Pittsburgh after Starling Marte hits a bomb on the first pitch he ever sees in the majors.  He becomes the 28th player to do so.
