The Morning Dump: 8/16/12

The summer of movies for Charlie continued last night with the viewing of The Campaign.  Great movie and one of the funniest political movies starring Will Ferrel and Zach Galifianakis I have ever seen.

Manny Pacquiao will pick his next opponent soon and Timothy Bradley wants it to be a rematch of their controversal fight in June.  Bradley was quoted saying “To be honest with you, I think a lot of people on that side are scared. He couldn’t knock me out with two peg legs. Me healthy, I’m going to beat him worse.” to steer Pacquiao towards a rematch.  I hope Pacquiao give Bradley another fight and if he does I think Bradley wins.

Melky Cabrera has been suspended for 50 games for testing positive for PEDs.  Melkey’s positive test stems from using Bonds’ old locker.  The cream and the clear still lingers there.

Felix Hernandez threw the 23rd perfect game in MLB history.  Perfect games are so commonplace now, that the new perfect game is if someone watches an entire game on TV.

Yesterday Americans crossed the border to Mexico and instead of getting stinking drunk they beat Mexico 1-0 for their first win on Mexican soil.  WINNING!

One of tonight’s preseason games will be the Falcons vs. the Bengals and one of our dumpers is torn.  He grew up a Bengals fan, but after too many heartbreaking years he became a Falcons fan.  I know what you are saying.  How could someone just switch favorite teams?  That is like switching from Miller Lite to Bud Light.  Absurd I know, but this change has not been easy for him.  His family has disowned him.  He still hasn’t been able to learn the Dirty Bird (but his Ickey shuffle is perfect).  So don’t judge the man until you know what it’s like to just turn your back on your favorite team for no real reason at all and start cheering for some team you randomly pick out of a hat.  If I was Kentucky, Jimmie Johnson and Elton John, I would be worried.  By 2017 Richard’s new favorites will be UNC, 3-time Champ Clint Bowyer and still Elton John.

  1. I wouldn’t expect someone who cheers for a team full drug addicts and cheaters, and an owner who held a city hostage after one of the greatest natural disasters in history in order to get rich to understand.

    • Charlie "Jumbo" Copeland says:

Most NFL players are drug addicts so that doesn’t bother me. Find me a cheater. Do I agree with all the decisions that Tom Benson has made? No, but is my dislike of an owner enough to make me turn my back on my favorite team. I don’t know anyone that would ever do that to their favorite team.

      • Sean Peyton, Micky Loomis, Jonathon Vilma, Will Smith…

Hey, if you like rooting for a POS owner, go fot it. It’s not for me though.

      • Charlie "Jumbo" Copeland says:

It’s not cheating to try to break a guy’s leg. It’s not right, but it ain’t cheating. What Benson has done for the city and the state far outweigh the negatives.
