There are a few things that you shouldn’t try to do to a Brazilian jiu-jitsu master and mugging is one on them.  Thursday night as Renzo Gracie was walking near his Manhattan, New York gym, a man asked him for a cigarette.  When Gracie told the man he didn’t smoke the man grabbed Gracie’s arm and reached for his pocket to get his wallet as another guy approached him from the side.  After Gracie threw a couples punches and dropped the first guy, the 2nd man took off running.  Gracie hit the grounded attacker a few more times and even snapped a pic on his iPhone of the man on the ground.  Gracie was tweeting right after the attack and sent a pic of his hand. 

Next time use the elbow.
