Strasburg will not be making his scheduled start on Wednesday vs. the Mets and will not pitch again this season. His Wednesday start was to be his last, but manager Davey Johnson has decided that the strain of the media attention has become a distraction and Strasburg is done.
The Nationals didn’t get to the best record in baseball because of only Strasburg, but because they have great pitching and not just a great pitcher. I just hope that they can continue to play well, because if this move backfires, heads may roll in Washington.
