Pick That Made Me Look Smart:
Taking Penn State at +10 was very big. If they had a kicker that could hit just 2-4 instead of 1-4, I would have won my outright bet.
Pick That Made Me Look Bad:
I picked Utah to win big against interstate rival Utah State, but that didn’t happen. The Utes lost in OT and I missed hard.
This weekend loses a bit of its luster with last week’s UL-M upset of Arkansas, but we will have 3 top 25 matchups to entertain us. Look for the USC/Stanford and ND/MSU games to have National Title implications.
Thursday 9/13/12
Rutgers at South Florida (-8) 7:30pm ESPN
The Bulls and the Scarlet Knights are both sitting at 2-0, but only one of them has looked impressive in doing so. South Florida came back last week against Nevada and should run it up against Rutgers. 2 TD win for South Florida.
Friday 9/14/12
Washington State (-10.5) at UNLV 9:00pm ESPN
I am still waiting for the Mike Leach offense to show up for Washington State and I think they will improve, but I don’t think it will travel good enough to win in Vegas. UNLV covers and might steal one from the Cougars.
Saturday 9/15/12
#1 Alabama (-21) at Arkansas 3:30pm CBS
Arkansas has no chance at beating the best team in the nation this weekend at home, but I think they are skilled enough to keep the Tide inside of 20 points. With or without Tyler Wilson.
#18 Florida at #23 Tennessee (-3) 6:00pm ESPN
ULM put this game front and center for the SEC and I hope it delivers. Both teams are undefeated, but I give Tyler Bray and the Vols the edge. Florida’s D just doesn’t scare me enough to pick them.
#20 Notre Dame at #10 Michigan State (-4.5) 8:00pm ABC
If ND can win this game, it may get them deserving half the attention they get, but I wouldn’t count on it. The Spartans will mash them on both sides of the ball and the Irish will have no legs left in the 4th.
#25 BYU (-4.5) at Utah 10:00pm ESPN2
Utah is reeling from their loss at Utah State, but I think they got enough to knock the Cougars back out of the top 25. Look for this game to be a defensive battle that Utah will win.
#14 Texas (-10.5) at Mississippi 9:15pm ESPN
Texas is back, but a night trip to SEC country will test anyone. Look for the Horns to get out with a tight hard fought win.
#2 USC (-7.5) at #21 Stanford 7:30pm FOX
I have not been impressed with the Trojans so far this year and I think that the Cardinals in line for the upset. I am betting the Cardinals to cover and to win outright.
