Katie McLaughlin of CNN wrote of great piece called ‘Are athletes who speak their minds out of bounds?’ about athletes speaking their minds and using their voices to champion causes they believe in.  Wether it’s Chris Kluwe and Matt Birk voicing their opinion on same-sex marriage to Tommie Smith and John Carlos raising a black gloved fist in the ’68 Olympics, athletes have always used the attention they get to make a stand.
